The next training session for Republican poll watchers is this Saturday, April 23, at 10:00 am at the back of the Eisenhower Drive Board of Elections, off Waters Ave. Interested people should contact Debbie Rauers, drauers@aol.com
SIRC needs you as a Poll Watcher. Poll Watchers are partisan volunteers who are designated and trained by the local Republican or Democrat party to watch the handling of incoming absentee ballots, the operations at precincts on election day, and the handling/counting of absentee ballots. Poll Watchers look for irregularities and report them to their party. (Poll Workers are paid temporary employees of the county government who actually handle the precincts, count the absentee ballots, etc. They are trained by the County and do not act in a partisan fashion. We need you to be Poll Workers, too.)

April 2. This coming Saturday. 1:00, at the Chatham County Board of Elections at 1117 Eisenhower. The corner of Waters and Eisenhower, around the back of the building, where you would vote at the Board of Registrars.
The State GOP will provide training. This is mandatory before you can be credentialed to poll watch. Some of you have designated your preference of location, thank you. Other questions will need to be answered as well. In particular the time you are available.
No poll can have more than 2 Democrats and 2 Republicans at one time. No one who is a candidate, or their close family can be a poll watcher.
We hope to have you scheduled before you leave so that we can turn in your information for credentials. Hopefully the district chairs can get you scheduled appropriately. I have asked them to be at the training on Saturday. Please be prepared to fill out additional paperwork on Saturday. If you want to be a poll worker please contact The Board of Registrars.
There are other opportunities to poll watch:
Early Voting and absentee opening at the Board of Registrars.
Absentee processing and adjudication of ballots.
These are essential elements of securing the vote. Please pass the word around. We hope to have other trainings . If you can make it for sure, please email drauers@aol.com, so we can have enough materials.
